The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and executing maintenance and outage plans to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations at the Ormond Beach Generating Station. This role involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities, supporting plant supervisors, and driving continuous improvement in reliability and compliance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Develop detailed work scopes and job plans in collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and accident prevention practices.
- Identify, order, and manage parts and materials for scheduled and major maintenance projects.
- Prepare and integrate detailed schedules and cost estimates into maintenance and outage plans.
- Review engineering drawings and technical manuals to determine best maintenance practices.
- Estimate labor hours, craft requirements, and material needs for each job.
- Provide timely updates on outage activities to ensure cost and schedule compliance.
- Respond quickly to support plant operations during forced outages.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities and generate reports for continuous improvement.
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365, Excel, and other software tools to manage maintenance data and work order backlog.
- Plan and coordinate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM) programs.
- Collaborate with operations, warehouse, and purchasing teams to schedule and execute work orders.
- Ensure proper approval and accounting of all project costs.
- Minimum 4 years of technical training or experience in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation fields.
- Strong organizational and decision‑making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in computer applications, project scheduling, budgeting, and power plant operations.
- Knowledge of outage planning, RCM, and PDM processes.
- Ability to build positive relationships and work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
- Willingness to travel within the region and work extended hours as needed.
- Availability for 24/7 emergency response.
- Exposure to varied outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions, high noise levels, hazardous areas, and diverse work surfaces.
- Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high‑voltage protective gear.
- Working near high‑voltage equipment and operating heavy machinery, with proper training and safety protocols.
- Entry into confined spaces and potentially hazardous environments, often accompanied by exposure to loud machinery and equipment.
- Physical activities including walking, standing for extended periods, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders/stairs, operating large valves, and performing tasks requiring up to 50 lbs. of pulling, turning, lifting, or carrying.
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
- Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for operating switches, push buttons, and other controls.
- Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Participation in a post‑offer physical examination and drug screening, as well as ongoing random drug testing.
- Compliance with strict smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.
