Test Engineer

Job Summary

Battelle is currently seeking a Test Engineer II to work full‑time in Oxnard, CA. The position requires an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.

• Define, document, analyze, perform and interpret tests for products, systems, components or modifications utilizing internal and industry quality control standards.
• Provide input on design improvements and fabrication feasibility for prototype hardware.
• Work on complex assignments that require significant judgment, creativity and initiative to identify problems and propose solutions.
• Recommend and implement improved methods for new approaches, and oversee various types of equipment and facility operations.
• Complete complex tasks with minimal supervision and plan and perform project work from a basic understanding of objectives and work statements.
• Participate in or provide input to written and/or oral presentations to clients, suppliers, visitors and technical representatives to disseminate information.
• Assist engineers in preparing engineering drawings and reports for stakeholders.
• Procure, fabricate, assemble, and test components and assemblies using technical drawings, sketches, and technical design packages, sometimes under the guidance of a design engineer.

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field; two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and currently hold a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• Experience reading technical assembly drawings and sketches, procuring, fabricating, and assembling complex assemblies.
• Experience testing various electrical or mechanical components.
• Exhibits technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to complete complex assignments and demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems.
• Ability to follow, modify and generate procedures of significant complexity.
• Physically fit to accomplish required tasks, including working from ladders and in confined spaces.
• Experience in conceptualizing design requirements and translating requirements into a feasible design under moderate supervision.
• Knowledge of materials and components required by the design.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
• Ability to handle multiple job assignments simultaneously and manage time effectively.

• May be expected to pursue various certifications or continuing educational units, as needed.
• Perform complex analysis of data and provide input for reports.
• Ability to work within a stringent client‑driven quality assurance program.
• Experience with integration and testing of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
• Willingness to travel: less than 10% of the time, with the possibility of expanding to national or international travel up to 50% as experience grows.
