Full-time

PRIMARY

Performs accounting functions according to established accounting principles. Assists AVP of Accounting with financial reporting, analysis and supervision of the accounting team. Assists with process improvement, departmental efficiency, regulatory reporting, and updating procedures. Will be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of general ledger reconciliations, assisting with regulatory reporting (including the FR2900 and Call Report), review of accounts Payable processing, month‑end closing entries, bank reconciliations and various other daily accounting functions.

§ Obtain a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure.

§ Assist with reviewing of month end processes and procedures such as journal entries, A / P, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, allocations, capital expenditures, amortization / depreciation, and month end reporting to properly record and report the credit union’s net income, assets and liabilities.

§ Maintain General Ledger systems; monitor and keep the GL system in balance, research system outages and trouble‑shoot system issues.

§ Update periodic GL account reconciliations and source documents in support of ending asset and liability balances.

§ Performs detailed analysis of general ledgers and expenditures upon request.

§ Assist with preparation of corporate budgets and budget to actual variance analysis as needed.

§ Assist with internal and external audits as needed.

§ Assist with management and regulatory reporting, including preparation of the NCUA 5300 Call Report.

§ Prepare payment and collateral reconciliations and reports for loans and investments sold to or held at FHLB, Fannie Mae and other parties.

§ Assist Mortgage Servicing and Commercial Servicing departments with discrepancy research, reporting, month end reconciliations, etc.

§ Reconcile loan participations, sales, monthly journal entries and reporting.

§ Prepare Insurance Cuso reporting. Not limited to commission calculations, new and renewal policy updates, etc.

§ Maintain accounting workbooks and schedules for items such as fixed assets & prepaid expenses, etc.

§ Identify areas of operational improvements to strengthen internal controls, increase productivity and improve workflow.

§ Works closely with other departments to rectify issues and help create balancing efficiencies.

§ Overseeing daily corporate cash monitor and projection functions.

§ Creates and maintains procedures related to accounting process, including documentation supporting accounting principles used.

§ Provide back‑up support for various functions on the team to ensure the continuity of all support services during the absence of any other member of the Accounting Department.

§ Assumes the responsibility for all other related duties as required.

Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP and Computer Information System for Finance and Accounting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, and MS Excel required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
  • Strong problem‑solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of leadership and employees within the organization.
  • Ability to work autonomously, handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to new demands and challenges.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision is required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
  • Ability to consistently be at work on scheduled days and at scheduled time.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles as applied in a financial services industry environment is preferred.
