9:00am - 5:00pm Pay Rate: £27.34 - £29.10 per hour The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Licensing Officer / Team Leader with a background in Taxi and Alcohol Licensing within a Council / Local Authority setting. You will join the Licensing team, overseeing a varied caseload, supporting a small team, and ensuring applications are processed in line with legislation and statutory deadlines.
This is a hybrid role offering an immediate start and the chance to make an immediate impact within a well-established council service.
The Role As Licensing Officer / Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing a broad range of licensing activities while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council policies.
Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee two busy Licensing inboxes. Process and coordinate a variety of licensing applications. Lead and support a small Licensing team. Arrange meetings. Conduct checks and assessments on licensing applications. Handle complaints and enquiries relating to licensing matters. Maintain accurate records and case management information. Ensure applications are processed in line with statutory timescales and regulatory requirements. Liaise with applicants, elected members, external agencies, and internal stakeholders.
Skills /
Experience:
Experience working within a Local Authority Licensing Team . Strong knowledge of Taxi Licensing and Alcohol Licensing . Experience supervising or leading staff within a licensing environment. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience preparing for and supporting Licensing Committees. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and local authority systems.
