Salary: £35,162 - £40,533. Plus, a £5,000 welcome payment and a retention payment at the end of year 2 of £3,000.

A great opportunity to be involved in ensuring high quality development is in line with approved plans and ensuring breaches of planning control is regularised. This will ensure the beautiful nature of our rural District is maintained and enhance which is in east Surrey, bordering Kent and the London Boroughs to the north. We are a Green Belt authority with two National Landscapes in the District.

As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you will investigate and resolve breaches of planning control. This will draw on your investigative abilities to identify whether there has been any breaches. You will report to the Enforcement Manager who will be there to support and provide guidance to you as well as your enforcement colleagues. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative in dealing with your caseload.

This is a crucial part of the Enforcement Team to uphold confidence in the planning system. There is a wide variety of cases to investigate so it is an excellent opportunity to start your career in planning enforcement or to develop it further.

The government is reorganising local councils in Surrey. The current two-tier system where services are split between Surrey County Council and district or borough councils, will be replaced by two new unitary councils - East Surrey Council and West Surrey Council.

East Surrey Council will cover Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell, Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge District managing all local services, including housing, planning, waste, education, roads and social care.
