Are you ready to take the lead in creating a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained environment for students and staff? We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Premises Manager to join de Stafford Secondary School.
In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee the management of our buildings and grounds, ensuring compliance with GLF Schools’ policies and statutory obligations. From supervising contractors and managing maintenance schedules to promoting health and safety and driving improvements across the site, you’ll play a key part in shaping a positive and secure learning environment for our school community.
Your opportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and hands‑on professional to make a real impact on the daily life of our school community. As Premises Manager at de Stafford Secondary School, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. You’ll take ownership of compliance, health and safety, and maintenance planning, while leading a dedicated site team and working closely with contractors and senior leaders.
From managing budgets and strategic improvement plans to overseeing day‑to‑day operations, this role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to contribute to a thriving educational environment. - Proven experience in building and site maintenance, including forward planning and problem‑solving.
- Strong knowledge of building compliance and health & safety standards, with the ability to develop risk assessments and ensure safe practices.
- Hands‑on maintenance skills across areas such as plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work.
- Experience managing and supervising a team, including rotas and professional development.
- Ability to commission and oversee contractors, ensuring high‑quality, safe outcomes.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise and respond flexibly to urgent requests.
- Competent IT skills for compliance recording, communication, and managing systems.
- Positive, proactive attitude with strong communication skills and a commitment to creating a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.
de Stafford is an 11‑16 comprehensive school located in Caterham, Surrey which joined GLF Schools MAT in December 2016. The school has a PAN of 180 students per year group. The school serves predominantly the local Caterham community with the majority of students residing within the CR3 catchment area.

Salary: GLF Senior Specialist - £34,429 - £40,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours:
52 Weeks per year - 36hrs per week (Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri: 8:00 – 15:30 & Weds: 7:30 – 16:00)
