Senior Nurse - Care Home

About the role

As a Senior Nurse (General) at a Barchester care home, you'll use your leadership skills to ensure our residents receive the quality care we are known for. You will be a hands‑on clinical leader, creating a safe and supportive environment for residents with a range of mental and physical needs. You will exercise professional judgement to make critical clinical decisions, from assessing the needs of a new resident to implementing safeguarding policies and administering medicines in line with NMC regulations.

You will support and mentor your team, ensuring they have the clinical training required to deliver the highest standards of nursing. As a Senior Nurse (General), you will have the freedom and autonomy to do things the right way and will be truly valued and respected for what you do.

To join us as a Senior Nurse (General), you must be a Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration and a mentoring or supervisory qualification. Experience in producing care plans and detailed risk assessments is important, as is an up‑to‑date knowledge of the most recent clinical practices. You should understand regulatory frameworks, including DoLs/MCA and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines. You will be a natural leader and problem solver who has worked with older people and acted as a clinical mentor, including supporting newly qualified nurses through their preceptorship.
