Bookkeeper

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and organized Bookkeeper to manage their day-to-day financial record-keeping in their Paarl office. This role is fundamental to maintaining accurate financial data for the business. You will be responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, and assisting with financial reporting. This position is based at our client's premises in Paarl and requires a dedicated individual committed to upholding financial accuracy within a professional setting.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and trial balances.
• Process all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Assist with payroll processing and related statutory submissions.
• Prepare basic financial reports and assist management with ad-hoc financial queries.
• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.

• Matriculation certificate with a strong background in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Relevant bookkeeping qualification (e.g., FETC in Bookkeeping, ICB) is highly desirable.
• Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably with small to medium-sized businesses.
• Proficiency in bookkeeping software (e.g., Pastel, Quick Books) and MS Excel.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles and South African tax regulations (VAT, PAYE).
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.
