Cost Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their finance team in Paarl. This hybrid role will focus on analyzing and reporting on production costs, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances. You will work closely with the operations and production teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve overall efficiency. The position requires a strong understanding of costing methodologies and a commitment to providing accurate financial data to support operational decision-making.

• Develop, maintain, and analyze standard cost systems.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide explanations.
• Assist in the annual budgeting process for manufacturing costs.
• Perform inventory costing and valuation, including cycle counts and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and provide insights to management.
• Support new product costing initiatives and process improvements.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of costing principles, including standard costing and activity-based costing.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
