Telecom Field Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly competent Telecom Field Engineer to join their dedicated team operating in and around Paarl . This crucial role involves the hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications infrastructure, including base stations, microwave links, and fiber optic networks. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliable performance of our client's network assets across the region, working directly on-site to deploy and maintain cutting-edge telecom technology .

This position demands technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service in challenging field conditions.

• Install, commission, and test telecommunications equipment, including cellular base stations and transmission systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative repairs on network infrastructure.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity, signal strength, and equipment performance.
• Conduct site surveys and prepare technical reports on network conditions and installation progress.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company standards during field operations.
• Collaborate with project managers and other field teams to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Telecom Field Engineer or in a similar field-based role within the telecoms industry .
• Strong technical knowledge of wireless communication systems (GSM, LTE, 5G), microwave, and fiber optics.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment relevant to telecommunications networks.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on practical application.
• Valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to travel extensively within the designated service area around Paarl .
