About the Role
Our client, a renowned performance tuning and customization specialist in Paarl , is seeking a passionate and skilled Automotive Performance Engineer to join their dedicated team. You will be responsible for enhancing vehicle performance through engine tuning, suspension upgrades, and aerodynamic modifications. This role requires a deep understanding of internal combustion engines, ECU mapping, and vehicle dynamics, coupled with a hands‑on approach.
You will work with high‑performance vehicles, delivering exceptional results for discerning clients in the Western Cape , contributing to the company's reputation for excellence in automotive performance engineering.
- Develop and implement engine control unit (ECU) tunes for various makes and models to optimize power, torque, and fuel efficiency.
- Conduct dyno testing and data acquisition to measure performance metrics and validate tuning strategies.
- Design and specify modifications for engine components, intake and exhaust systems, and fuel delivery.
- Install and calibrate performance‑enhancing hardware, such as turbochargers, superchargers, and upgraded injectors.
- Provide expert advice on suspension, braking, and aerodynamic upgrades to improve handling and track performance.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their performance goals and tailor solutions accordingly.
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in automotive performance tuning, ECU remapping, and engine modification.
- In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines, forced induction systems, and engine management systems.
- Proficiency with dynamo meters, data logging tools, and tuning software (e.g., HP Tuners, Cobb Accessport).
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, suspension geometry, and aerodynamic principles.
