Project Manager – Buildings; QS​/HVAC background

This is an ideal opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor or Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer looking to take the next step into project management. You’ll work alongside experienced project managers, building your coordination, contract, and leadership skills while applying the technical grounding you already have.

• Develop project execution plans, including project schedules and timelines.
• Facilitate the appointment of the professional team in consultation with the client.
• Set up communication and management systems.

• Coordinate inputs from all stakeholders.
• Manage design development in line with project objectives.
• Ensure the design fits the budget and timeline.
• Monitor and control change management.

• Manage tendering and appointment of contractors.
• Prepare and manage contracts.
• Ensure compliance with relevant procurement and health and safety legislation.

• Monitor construction progress and quality against the project schedule.
• Track and update project timelines throughout the project lifecycle.
• Organise site meetings and reporting.
• Manage the project handover to the client.
• Ensure completion of final accounts and documentation.

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or a related built environment field.
• 5–10 years’ relevant experience in a QS, mechanical/HVAC engineering, or similar built environment role — this role is an excellent entry point for professionals looking to transition into project management.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages (especially Excel, Word).
• Working knowledge of project scheduling and project management software (e.g., MS Project) will be advantageous.
• Familiarity with tender processes and contract administration (e.g., JBCC).
• Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., SACPCMP, PMI) will be advantageous.
• Experience in digital coordination and collaboration using ACC will be advantageous.

• Strong leadership and coordination abilities, managing diverse teams and keeping everyone aligned.
• Good organisational and time management skills, with an ability to plan and track project schedules.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good team player, comfortable working across disciplines outside your original field.
• Self-driven and self-motivated, with a genuine interest in growing into a project management career.
• Detail-oriented but also able to see the “big picture.”
• Calm under pressure, with a proactive attitude.
• Willing to learn and adapt, with a strong appetite for professional development.
