Structural Mechanical Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly analytical Structural Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape. This role focuses on the structural integrity and mechanical performance of complex systems and infrastructure, ensuring safety and reliability under various load conditions. You will be involved in the analysis, design, and testing of components and assemblies, applying advanced engineering principles to solve critical challenges.

• Perform structural analysis and design of mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
• Conduct stress, strain, and deformation analysis using FEA software for static and dynamic loads.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and construction teams to ensure designs are feasible and correctly implemented.
• Investigate structural failures or performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international engineering standards and safety regulations.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural analysis and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in finite element analysis (FEA) software (e.g., Abaqus, ANSYS, Cosmos).
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, solid mechanics, and structural dynamics.
• Experience with design codes and standards applicable to structural integrity.
