Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Our client is seeking a dedicated and hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to oversee the upkeep and operational efficiency of their industrial facilities in Paarl, Western Cape . This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all mechanical systems and equipment, minimizing downtime, and supporting production targets. You will be responsible for planning and executing maintenance schedules, troubleshooting equipment failures, and implementing preventative maintenance programs.

• Plan, schedule, and execute routine and emergency maintenance for all mechanical equipment and systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures in production machinery, pumps, motors, and associated plant equipment.
• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Conduct thorough inspections and condition monitoring of machinery to identify potential issues before they escape.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary components.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant trade qualification (e.g., Millwright).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for a variety of mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Familiarity with PLC basics and industrial electrical systems is an advantage.
