About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and mathematically inclined Actuarial Assistant to support their actuarial team in Paarl . This role provides a crucial stepping stone for individuals aspiring to become fully qualified actuaries, offering exposure to a wide range of actuarial functions, including pricing, reserving, and financial modeling. You will work under the guidance of senior actuaries, assisting with data analysis, calculations, and the preparation of reports.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in a supportive environment within the beautiful Cape Winelands, contributing to the company's long-term financial strategy.
- Assist senior actuaries in data collection, validation, and analysis for various actuarial projects.
- Perform calculations for pricing, reserving, and financial projections under actuarial guidance.
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets and databases for actuarial modeling and reporting.
- Support the preparation of regulatory filings and internal management reports.
- Contribute to the development and testing of new actuarial models and methodologies.
- Undertake actuarial examinations as part of the qualification process, with company support.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Progress towards an actuarial qualification (e.g., passed preliminary actuarial exams).
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with statistical software or programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL) is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
