About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecoms Network Operations Specialist to join their team in Paarl . This role is integral to the day-to-day functioning and stability of our client's telecommunications network. You will be responsible for monitoring network performance, responding to incidents, and performing routine maintenance to ensure optimal service delivery. While the role requires a physical presence for essential on-site tasks and local team collaboration, it incorporates elements of remote monitoring and reporting, offering a hybrid work arrangement.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong troubleshooting abilities, and is committed to maintaining high standards of network reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor network performance and availability using sophisticated monitoring tools, identifying and responding to alerts proactively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, escalating complex issues to senior engineers when necessary.
  • Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software updates and configuration changes, following established procedures.
  • Document network events, incident resolutions, and maintenance activities accurately in the operations log.
  • Collaborate with field technicians and other operations staff to ensure swift resolution of service disruptions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of network operations processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • Diploma or certification in a relevant technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in network operations or a similar technical support role within the telecoms industry .
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and protocols (e.g., SNMP, Net Flow).
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and switching concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and the capacity to work collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
