About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and driven Senior Biochemist to join their innovative research team based in Paarl. This role is essential for advancing our understanding and application of biochemical processes in product development. You will spearhead research projects, design experiments, and analyze complex biological data to drive scientific discovery and product innovation. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in biochemistry, enzyme kinetics, protein chemistry, and related fields, coupled with a passion for contributing to cutting-edge scientific advancements within a collaborative and dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and execution of biochemical experiments to investigate biological pathways and molecular mechanisms.
- Purify and characterize proteins and enzymes using techniques such as chromatography, electrophoresis, and spectroscopy.
- Develop and optimize assays for enzyme activity, substrate specificity, and inhibitor screening.
- Analyze and interpret complex biochemical data, generating high-quality reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including molecular biologists and chemists, to advance research projects.
- Stay current with the latest scientific literature and methodologies in biochemistry and related fields.
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in biochemical research.
- Expertise in protein purification, enzyme kinetics, and biochemical assay development.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and data analysis software.
- Experience with structural biology or biophysical characterization methods is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively.
