About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Research Scientist with expertise in Microbiology and Fermentation to join their innovative R&D team in Paarl . This role is crucial for the development and optimization of microbial processes for industrial applications, including food production, biofuels, and biopharmaceuticals. You will design and conduct experiments, manage microbial cultures, and analyze fermentation performance to improve efficiency and product yield.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in microbial physiology, molecular biology, and large-scale fermentation techniques, contributing to cutting-edge research in a dynamic laboratory setting.
- Develop and optimize microbial strains and fermentation processes for industrial applications.
- Conduct experiments to investigate microbial growth kinetics, metabolism, and product formation under various conditions.
- Design and execute studies to improve fermentation yield, productivity, and product purity.
- Perform downstream processing and purification of microbial products using established techniques.
- Utilize molecular biology tools for strain improvement and genetic analysis of microorganisms.
- Maintain meticulous records of experiments, analyze data, and prepare reports for project teams.
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of research experience in industrial microbiology and fermentation science.
- Proven expertise in microbial strain selection, genetic manipulation, and media optimization.
- Hands-on experience with bench-scale and pilot-scale fermentation systems.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, DNA sequencing, and cloning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities for collaboration in Paarl .
