Chemical Engineer - Research & Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Chemical Engineer to join their Research & Development team, offering a hybrid work model in Paarl . You will contribute to the discovery and development of new chemical products and processes, working in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and collaborating with a team of experienced scientists and engineers. This role involves designing and conducting experiments, analyzing results, and scaling up promising technologies.

You will play a key part in shaping the future of our product portfolio, requiring a blend of scientific curiosity and practical engineering skills.

• Design and execute laboratory experiments for new product and process development.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and draw conclusions to guide further research.
• Develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes and manufacturing processes.
• Scale up laboratory processes to pilot plant and commercial production.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare technical reports.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
• Proven experience in laboratory research and development.
• Familiarity with organic synthesis, analytical techniques (GC, HPLC, NMR), and process scale-up.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to technical challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting .
