Job Description:

Sierra Health and Wellness uses evidence‑based methods to restore families, relationships, and self‑worth. The Substance Use Disorder Certified Counselor (SUDCC) or Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) helps clients achieve their goals. Our inpatient facility houses 24 clients with specialized and personal care.

• Assess and monitor client behaviors during treatment for chemical and alcohol abuse and dependency.
• Evaluate clients’ immediate and long‑term needs and develop treatment plans to reduce or eliminate substance abuse or criminal thinking.
• Make referral appointments to meet mental health or medical needs.
• Work with the Job developer to build clients’ employability or start SSI process as needed.
• Document client behavior in group participation and counseling.
• Provide crisis management and counseling services, run group therapies and education for clients and family/significant others.
• Coordinate treatment and discharge planning.

• Provide assessment and participate in treatment planning with clients.
• Review client charts for completion of paperwork with appropriate signatures; complete weekly audits each Friday.
• Facilitate discharge planning and community outreach.
• Respond to emergencies and initiate action as required.
• Record noteworthy events involving client activities in daily record.
• Respond to client complaints efficiently and timely.
• Check for completion of client orientation by support staff.
• Contact family immediately and set up communication schedule if desired by client.
• Meet with clients individually twice a week at minimum.
• Complete notes for every group and interaction.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certification as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor by a California Regulatory Agency.
• Minimum one year of experience in Drug and Alcohol counseling.
• Familiarity with HIPAA/client confidentiality and personal rights.
• Valid license or certification in drug and alcohol counseling through an approved Department of Health Care licensing board.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable under Sierra Health and Wellness Centers automobile insurance policy.

• Two to five years of experience in drug and alcohol counseling.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
