Job Summary:

A Shipyard Safety Engineer ensures personnel and facility safety by identifying and correcting potential hazards. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.

-5 p.m. Weekends and overtime will be assigned as needed.

What you’ll do:

• Implement and evaluate programs and procedures to ensure personnel and facility safety.
• Monitor and control the company's safety/environmental standards while following OSHA and state regulations.
• Assist with management and tracking of worker injury claims.
• Investigate industrial accidents to minimize recurrence.
• Tour facilities; to identify and correct potential hazards; and to ensure compliance with safety/environmental regulations.
• Coordinate and conduct safety training to educate workers about safety policies.
• Take after-hours calls as assigned.
• Maintain and update environmental permits, plans, and facility manuals.
• Collect and analyze environmental data.
• Review environmental regulations and determine applicability.
• Maintain air permit systems to ensure compliance with permits.

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year University; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Clear written and verbal communications.
• Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
• Able to maintain confidential information.
• Able to respond to, interact and collaborate with customers, vendors/suppliers and employees.
• Attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy.
• Self-starter, able to work independently and as a team member.
