About the Role:

Electrical Engineering duties include designs, design reviews and design recovery for existing site infrastructure and new construction projects with a variety of technical problems of wide scope and complexity. Designs will primarily focus on low voltage primary power and facility/building electrical systems (480V and below), MCCs, and distribution systems; electronics will be a minor focus and infrequent.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, review, and document electrical designs for existing facility infrastructure and new construction projects, with a primary focus on industrial low-voltage power distribution and facility electrical systems, primarily 480 V and below, including motor control centers (MCCs) and associated distribution equipment. Design responsibilities include:
    • Evaluate and select electrical distribution equipment using vendor data, existing system information, and project requirements.
    • Research and apply technical reference materials, applicable electrical codes, and site engineering standards to support design development.
    • Perform electrical load calculations, conductor and equipment sizing, and voltage-drop calculations; perform short-circuit analysis, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies as required by the project scope.
    • Develop technical specifications for switchboards, panel boards, MCCs, transformers, and associated power distribution equipment and materials.
    • Prepare design documentation that records the design basis, assumptions, calculations, equipment selections, and technical decisions.
    • Develop and review single-line diagrams, panel schedules, grounding and bonding plans, cable and conduit layouts, and installation details for construction drawings.
    • Review designs for constructability and coordinate electrical installation requirements with other engineering disciplines and construction personnel.
    • Review designs for operability and compatibility with existing facility electrical systems and operating requirements.
    • Incorporate maintainability considerations, including equipment access, inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements, into electrical designs.
  • Conduct field visits, inspections, and on-site evaluations to verify existing electrical system configurations and conditions; coordinate technical findings and design requirements with subject matter experts.
  • Perform design recovery by verifying existing installations and reconstructing or updating electrical drawings and design documentation to reflect field conditions.
Requirements:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (industrial power background), with at least five years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
  • Requires a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Approximately five years of experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP,…
