Position: Statutory Compliance Officer Asbestos Safety (Housing) (Full Time) (Permanent) - REN14772

There is an opportunity available to join our Compliance Team within the Housing Investment team of Environment, Housing and Infrastructure of Renfrewshire Council.

As part of the team, you will assist the Statutory Compliance Co-ordinator Asbestos Safety (Housing) on the strategic management of Statutory Compliance and Regulatory undertakings related to HRA assets including the inspection and service regimes related to Asbestos Safety to ensure that Renfrewshire Communities and Housing Services (RCHS) is fully compliant and reduce any residual risk to its, tenants, employees and third parties.

Support the Procurement and Delivery of statutory compliance contracts, internal and external Quality Control/Quality Assurance arrangements and Monitoring and Reporting on performance.

You will assist in the development and delivery of the strategic approach to effectively managing Landlord Compliance statutory obligations and regulatory undertakings that reduces the risk, to customers, employees and third parties.

You must have a P402 Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos, P403 - Air Sampling and Fibre Counting (PCM), P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings and P404 - Clearance Testing aswell as the Requirements for a Certificate for Reoccupation or Equivalent.

You will be a self-motivated individual with experience of Statutory Health and Safety Compliance within the Social Housing Sector and experience in Asbestos Safety.

Knowledge of relevant health and safety issues within a compliance and maintenance/construction field including knowledge of current legislation relating to Asbestos Safety, is essential as is the ability to work on your own initiative and attend out of hours meetings as and when required. You must also have effective communication, ICT, presentation and organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.

A HNC or equivalent in construction or maintenance related discipline Or Property/Building related specialism or Health and Safety qualification are desirable but not essential.

It is also desirable that you hold a full current driving licence.
