We are offering an exciting permanent Consultant Psychiatrist role within Jersey's Community Mental Health Services. Main duties of the job
  • Provide medical expertise in Adult CMHT Psychiatry, investigating, diagnosing and managing psychiatric disorders in a community setting for patients aged 18‑65 years.
  • Provide clinical leadership, support and advice to the adult community mental health team.
  • Contribute to the Care and Recovery framework process for individuals who are care co‑ordinated.
  • Supervise one of the staff grade doctors.
  • Maintain close working relationships with other parts of the mental health care group.
  • Act as Responsible Officer for detained patients on long‑term leave in the community, working closely with the Mental Health Law Office to ensure timely delivery of tribunal reports and other documentation linked to Jersey Mental Health Law.
  • Work collaboratively with service users, families, carers and the voluntary sector.

Job description Job responsibilities
  • Liaise with other medical specialties and primary care colleagues as required.
  • Record clinical activity accurately and contemporaneously on the electronic patient record system and send letters to GPs.
  • Participate in the in‑house teaching programme.
  • Fulfil the CPD requirements set by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and participate in a peer group.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training programmes for a variety of disciplines aimed at improving the level of expertise and the standard of care for adults with mental health needs within Health and Community Services.
  • Participate in the all‑age 1:14 on‑call rota for psychiatry and contribute to the day‑on‑call rota for MHLaw assessments.
  • Work with managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of the services and share with consultant colleagues the medical contribution to the management of the service.
  • Comply with Health and Care Jersey's agreed policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively with partner organisations who provide services to people with mental health problems and co‑morbid issues as appropriate.
  • Engage in service development activities, audits and monitoring.
  • Cover for colleagues on annual leave or study leave.
