Location: Deeside

Contract type: Permanent, Full time

Salary: £33,912 – £38,218

Job Summary

We currently have a vacancy for a self‑motivated work based learning practitioner within our Engineering department. The role involves assessing the full range of qualifications in Electrical Engineering in line with awarding organisation requirements, managing a caseload of learners and undertaking a training needs analysis. You will facilitate learner enrollment, provide coaching, mentoring and learning opportunities, and deliver underpinning knowledge sessions in one‑to‑one or workshop formats (maximum group size of eight participants).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess learners against awarding organisation criteria for Electrical Engineering qualifications.
  • Manage a caseload of learners, delivering tailored support and guidance.
  • Conduct training needs analyses to identify skill gaps.
  • Facilitate learner enrolment in appropriate courses.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and learning opportunities to learners.
  • Deliver underpinning knowledge sessions on a one‑to‑one or workshop basis (max. eight participants).
  • Plan, prioritise and manage own workload to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and professionalism in all interactions with learners and industry partners.
Essential Requirements
  • A professionally relevant qualification at a minimum of Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Possession or willingness to work towards an Assessors qualification (TAQA).
  • Possession or willingness to work towards a Quality Assurance qualification (currently 401 TAQA unit).
  • Level 2 English and Maths qualifications (or equivalent) at Grade 4 (C) or above.
  • Possession or willingness to work towards a Digital Literacy Level 2 qualification.
  • Experience of liaising and partnering with external managers in industry.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the maintenance and development of quality standards within education.
  • Competence in a range of digital technologies, tools and applications, including Google and Microsoft products, with a proactive attitude towards new technology and developments.
  • Excellent time‑management and organisational skills.
  • Strong planning capability and the ability to meet deadlines independently.

  • Welsh language skills.
