A qualified and experienced Accountant to lead the delivery of high quality statutory and financial reporting, development and monitoring of quality internal control processes, manage key audit relationships, and drive continuous improvement across financial accounting processes. This role will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, while developing a high performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities Governance & Control
  • Ensure the appropriate control framework is operating within and across various teams;
  • Compliance - Ensure that the company complies with all external regulations and internal company policies, including those as required under Senior Accounting Officer requirements;
  • Identify and resolve areas of financial weakness in a timely manner;
  • Continually review, maintain and improve billing, debt, stock, purchase orders and ledger postings against budget, forecast, prior year and trends;
  • Provide information and resolve issues raised by both external and internal auditors.
Financial Accounting
  • Lead the production of statutory accounts in accordance with FRS
    102/IFRS and relevant regulatory requirements;
  • Audit, Statutory and Taxation - Manage the Annual Audit process (Internal and External) to ensure efficient and timely completion and timely filing of all statutory reporting obligations, Returns and Taxation.
  • Month End Accounting in line with strict monthly company timetable, particularly Balance Sheet and Cashflow;
  • Ensure all costs are coded correctly within the finance system and business systems;
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Finance team and across the business
  • Balance sheet and Capex control and reporting;
  • Review and Manage external audit timetable and ensure that it meets with group reporting requirements and timescales;
  • Identify key stakeholders, including the Business Partnering Team, prioritise their needs and review monthly;
Forward Looking Financial Performance
  • Ensure the integrity of the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow budgeting & forecasting.
  • Pro-active analytical work to facilitate continuous improvement of company performance;
  • Provide support and assistance to the Business Partnering and Leadership Team to ensure that they are fully aware of opportunities and risks and to provide decision making information when required;
Ad Hoc and Other
  • Ensure issues and solutions are identified promptly, communicated to the appropriate level and resolution monitored.
  • Represent finance in any Departmental management meetings and for any projects being carried out across the Business;
  • Ensure all financial and accounting records are thoroughly maintained and completed in preparation for independent audits;
  • Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where needed;
  • Present at meetings as and when required;
  • Assist with special Finance projects in support of key corporate initiatives as defined by the Board
  • Keeping up to date and implementing any legislative changes;
  • Ensuring compliance with Management Systems and Business Ethics policies;
  • Supporting any accounting system implementations and upgrades;
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the Finance Department.
Minimum Requirements
  • Airline experience desirable but not essential;
  • People Management experience preferable but not essential;
  • A track record of delivering results in a complex organisation;
  • CA accounting qualification with relevant PQE gained in a similar environment desirable;
  • Minimum PQE 3-5 years;
  • Audit background and knowledge essential;
  • Strong Financial Accounting experience;
  • IFRS/FRS
    102 experience desirable;
  • Comfortable working on an integrated accounting package together with a excellent knowledge of core office systems – Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Advanced excel modelling skills
