Role Overview
Butler Rose are working with a highly reputable business in the South Lakes to help them find a Senior Finance Officer. This position plays a key role in delivering robust day-to-day financial operations across a multi-entity organisation. The postholder will ensure strong financial control through accurate transaction processing, reconciliations, compliance activity, and support for management reporting and audit preparation.
The role also provides oversight, guidance and quality assurance for work undertaken by junior members of the finance team.
Key Responsibilities Transaction ProcessingProvide oversight and support to Finance Assistants in processing supplier invoices and managing approval workflows.
Prepare and process supplier payment runs.
Maintain and reconcile petty cash across multiple sites.
Post income transactions and investigate discrepancies where required.
Reconcile EPOS income to bank receipts and resolve variances.
Complete intercompany and control account reconciliations.
Prepare and review month-end journals.

Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and prepayments.
Prepare VAT returns (including partial exemption calculations where applicable) for review.
Prepare Gift Aid claims and maintain supporting documentation.
Assist with responding to HMRC queries as required.
Prepare supporting schedules for monthly management accounts.
Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, grant reporting and funder returns.
Coordinate audit schedules and provide supporting documentation.
Respond to routine audit queries and maintain organised audit files.
Oversee credit control processes.
Contribute to systems and process improvement initiatives.
Undertake additional duties as required to support the smooth running of the finance function.
Demonstrable experience in a finance role with responsibility for reconciliations and reporting.
Experience using cloud-based accounting systems (Xero desirable).
Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving ability.
Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
Highly organised, proactive and capable of managing competing deadlines.
Professional and discreet when handling confidential information.
