First things first: you want to know what you’re actually applying for. It’s impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distil it down to a job description (which we do because this is a job description), it would be this:

We're looking for a Dev Ops Engineer to join our platform enablement team. Your focus will be on enabling our product teams to deliver the product at great pace & quality. Your job will consist of improving our continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, enhancing the infrastructure automation for testing or deploying the code and contributing to the high availability, scalability and observability of our platform.

You will play a crucial role in building, deploying, and supporting the product that empowers hotels worldwide.

Our current setup leverages AWS Cloud Formation for infrastructure as code, with our infrastructure hosted on AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Cloud Watch, Global Accelerator, Lambda, and SQS. We utilize Bitbucket Pipelines for CI/CD, and New Relic and Sentry for observability.

• Work closely with both product engineering teams to design and support scalable and reliable solutions
• Implement, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines, enhancing the automation of build, test, deployment, and release processes
• Collaborate with different teams to ensure seamless integration of new tools and technologies into the existing setup
• Monitor pipelines performance & reliability and proactively identify areas that require adjustments or improvements
• Assist in the design and development of infrastructure as code using AWS Cloud Formation
• Own the process from development to production, including troubleshooting and resolving platform-related issues
• Contribute to planning, retrospectives, and other agile process meetings
• Share and document best practices and lessons learned
• Introducing and advocating for Dev Ops mindset within our teams
• Supporting our shift to macro-services architecture (moving away from monolithic one)
• Implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for real-time insights on the CI/CD platform
• Improving CI/CD pipelines
• Propose and evaluate new tooling (e.g. Terraform, Git Hub Actions, etc.)

• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI, AWS Dev Ops) and infrastructure automation (e.g. Terraform, AWS CDK)
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms with a focus on AWS
• Strong understanding of Git
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Bash, Ruby, Python)
• Commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design and delivering quality products
• Effective communication in English, both written and verbal
