Job Overview
Join the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) as a Staff Nurse - Surgery (Band 5 Registered Nurse). The role is based in ward 29, a 24‑bed ward within the Royal Alexandra Hospital. You will work a 37‑hour week across days, nights and weekends. Effective 1 April 2026, the full‑time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.
Responsibilities- Assess, deliver and supervise all care needs within the ward environment.
- Apply sound clinical skills for patient assessment, implementation and evidence‑based evaluation of care programmes.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment to a high clinical standard, maintaining flexibility and forward thinking.
- Support learning and education development for newly qualified nurses and for staff new to the ward/department.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate individual care programmes.
- Operate largely independently while remaining integrated within the testing team; manage a flexible shift pattern covering day, night rotations and weekends.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and decision‑making skills, supported by ongoing professional development.
- Current Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Must possess a live NMC UK PIN.
