The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our established Cardiology team. This advanced practice role offers the opportunity to deliver expert, patient-centred care across specialist cardiology services, with a particular focus on the Heart Failure Diagnostic Pathway Clinic and Nurse-Led Chest Pain Service.

Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will undertake comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, management and coordination of care for patients referred from primary, secondary and unscheduled care settings, ensuring timely access to specialist cardiology expertise and evidence-based treatment.

We are looking for a flexible, proactive and professional practitioner with excellent communication, clinical decision-making and organisational skills. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently within a specialist role while contributing positively to service development and multidisciplinary team working. Applicants must be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration, hold clinical practice qualifications in physical assessment and Heart Failure, possess an appropriate postgraduate qualification and be an Independent Non-Medical Prescriber.

Extensive cardiology experience, including significant expertise in the assessment and management of heart failure patients, knowledge of Heart Failure Diagnostic Pathway vetting, and low risk chest pain pathways is essential.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a permanent, full-time posts available at 36 hours per week.

The roles are based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, PA2 9PN
.

The shift pattern is 4/5 days per week, Monday to Friday.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

The post-holder will have:

  • A portfolio of evidence demonstrating working at band 7 CNS level and evidence of specialist competencies necessary for the role. This should include:
  • NMC Registered Nurse with Clinical Practice qualifications in physical assessment and Heart Failure.
  • An appropriate post graduate diploma (master’s level) (or 120 credits equivalent)
  • Independent Non-medical Prescriber
  • Experience and knowledge of heart failure diagnostic pathway vetting
  • Extensive experience in cardiology and managing heart failure patients.
  • Skilled in clinical assessment, diagnostics, prescribing, and patient education.
  • Experience in supervision, mentorship, and service development.
  • Good working knowledge of Primary Care Services.
  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range clinical procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies/procedures and practices specific to the working environment.
