Registered Veterinary Nurse – Paisley, Renfrewshire
About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking a proactive and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its established team in Paisley, Renfrewshire
.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week
, based primarily at the Paisley practice. The rota includes 1 in 4 weekends with no on-call duties
, offering a good balance alongside a varied clinical nursing caseload.
The role covers medical and surgical nursing, theatre and preparation duties, inpatient care, laboratory work and pharmacy stock management.

Up to £35,000 DOE

The practice is an RCVS-accredited mixed veterinary practice providing first-opinion care to an established client base.
The Paisley site has recently undergone a major refurbishment
, creating a modern clinical environment with an extensive range of diagnostic and surgical equipment.
Facilities include Karl Storz laparoscopy equipment for laparoscopic spays, digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy and a fully equipped in-house laboratory providing haematology, biochemistry, electrolyte and therapeutic monitoring capabilities. Modern dental equipment and instrumentation are also available.
The wider team includes Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, animal care colleagues and experienced reception staff, providing a supportive multidisciplinary working environment.
ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities will include:
Providing high-quality nursing care to medical and surgical patients
Caring for patients throughout postoperative recovery
Assisting Veterinary Surgeons in theatre and preparation areas
Monitoring hospitalised patients
Providing appropriate care for isolation patients
Undertaking in-house laboratory work
Supporting diagnostic procedures
Managing pharmacy ordering and stock control
Maintaining accurate patient and clinical records
Supporting infection prevention and clinical hygiene standards
Communicating effectively with clients and colleagues
Working collaboratively with the wider veterinary team
Participating in the 1 in 4 weekend rota
The successful candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with a proactive, compassionate and organised approach to patient care.
You should be comfortable working across a varied first-opinion nursing caseload, including medical and surgical inpatient care, theatre, laboratory duties and patient monitoring
.
Strong teamwork and communication skills are important, alongside a commitment to maintaining excellent clinical and welfare standards.
Professional development is actively encouraged, making the position particularly suitable for an RVN interested in undertaking further qualifications or developing additional clinical skills
