The St. Johns River Water Management District is an environmental agency whose work focuses on ensuring a long-term supply of drinking water and protecting health of water bodies in the District’s 18 counties in northeast and east-central Florida. The Bureau of District Projects and Construction is responsible for the design and implementation of water resource projects that meet the District mission.

- Supervise the design section staff including other licensed professional engineers. Develop workplans, monitor progress of assigned projects and assist in moving projects toward completion. Perform technical review of designs prepared by staff and revise designs as warranted to meet standards.
- Prepare detailed designs, including plans and specifications for District projects. Function as the engineer of record for complex engineering design projects. Review and comment on design documents from external entities and District consulting engineers. Provide technical engineering information to other agencies and consultants on the design of District projects. Communicate with District staff and external stakeholders.
- Engage in general administration and project planning and budgeting. May include contract administration duties such as developing scopes of work, evaluating proposals and reviewing invoices. Evaluate design needs and develop projects in coordination with other units following the project delivery process.
Minimum Qualifications: Registration as a Professional Engineer and one year of subsequent engineering experience. If not licensed in Florida, the ability to obtain licensure within one year of employment. Experience in structural engineering is desired but not required. Experience must include one year of leading a project team, coordinating activities of a workgroup, or serving as a team lead.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment: Mostly office environment with some field visits as required. Field visits may involve outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses: Professional Engineer license;
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Starting Salary Range: $99,964 - $120,619. Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
