Special Education Resource Room Teacher (Grades K–5)

Position Overview
Palermo Consolidated School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Resource Room Teacher to join our dedicated K–5 team for the 2026–2027 school year.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specially designed instruction in both resource room and inclusive classroom settings.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Use assessment and progress-monitoring data to design and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.

Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, educational technicians, and families to support student achievement.

Conduct academic evaluations and classroom observations.

Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional learning opportunities.

Foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes student independence, confidence, and success.

Qualifications

Valid Maine Certification 282 – Teacher of Students with Disabilities required.

Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.

Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and special education law.

Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

A positive, flexible, and student-focused approach to supporting diverse learners.
