The L3 Harris company is seeking motivated and talented electromagnetic effects E3 (TEMPEST) design and analysis engineers to join the L3 Harris TEMPEST electrical design engineering core group. Our team is currently hiring TEMPEST CTP-II subject matter experts with comprehensive knowledge of the job area and in-depth knowledge in TEMPEST design and analysis. The TEMPEST Design engineer will be responsible for developing procedures, plans, and the execution of various TEMPEST and EMI design activities for a multitude of systems ranging from submersible to space platforms recognized around the world. The TEMPEST engineer may also support niche field related to Multipaction, Corona Discharge, and EMI/EMC on products being developed throughout L3
Harris. This position is for a highly experienced engineering subject matter expert professional with a desire to drive technical expertise in the TEMPEST field. This position provides an excellent opportunity to embed solutions at the beginning of the design phase while growing the next generation of TEMPEST engineers on a career path leading to the submittal of candidacy in the L3 Harris technical fellowship program.
Functions
- Perform TEMPEST design and analysis of systems using HFSS and other software packages.
- Coordinate tests and verify TEMPEST design requirements with teammates, customers, and system architects through the development and sustainment of various L3 Harris systems.
- Develop control plans, test procedures, and test reports.
- Perform design analysis and implementation of mitigation mechanisms to ensure TEMPEST compliance.
- Evaluate design drawings to verify and correct system design to NSTISSAM 1-92 standards and MIL-STD-461.
- Review supplier and partner qualification data for electromagnetic compatibility.
- Develop and validate electromagnetic requirements for electrical electronic systems, mechanical systems interconnect and structures.
- Perform TEMPEST, EMI/EMC nuclear hardening, HIRF, Lightning, RF co‑site and antenna coupling analysis and test.
- Apply EMI/TEMPEST engineering technology experience to document and solve complex problems.
- Perform trade studies, modeling simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component interconnects and system performance and to optimize design.
- Requires active NSA CTP-II Certification or has been certified in the last five years.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or Engineering Physics Technology and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum US DOD SECRET Clearance required.
