Assistant Public Works Director

• Master’s degree in civil engineering, Business/Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university with course work in accounting, human resources/labor management, contracts law and management, or related fields, and two (2) years of progressively responsible government administrative or operations work experience in planning, organizing, and directing a large public works program involving both administrative and field operations; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Business/Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university with course work in accounting, human resources/labor management, contracts law and management, or related fields and six (6) years of progressively responsible government administrative or operations work experience in planning, organizing and directing a large public works program involving both administrative and field operations; OR
• Associate degree in civil engineering, Business/Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university with course work in accounting, human resources/labor management, contracts law and management, or related fields and ten (10) years of progressively responsible government administrative or operations work experience in planning, organizing and directing a large public works program involving both administrative and field operations; OR
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible government administrative or operations work experience in planning, organizing, and directing a large public works program involving both administrative and field operations.

• Associate degree in civil engineering, Business/Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university with course work in accounting, human resources/labor management, contracts law and management, or related fields and ten (10) years of progressively responsible government administrative or operations work experience in planning, organizing and directing a large public works program involving both administrative and field operations; OR
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and fourteen (14) years of progressively responsible government administrative or operations work experience in planning, organizing, and directing a large public works program involving both administrative and field operations.

A minimum of two (2) years of management/supervisory experience required. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.

Knowledge of and ability to use various computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, data base management, project management, E-mail, and the Internet required.
