Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electro‑mechanical assembly, precision mechanical assembly and rework, fiber optic (FO) cable installation and routing, complex solder rework, and magnet wire (mag‑wire) installation and repair. In addition, the technician will handle standard engineering technician tasks, including troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical components.

Functions
  • Perform electro‑mechanical assembly of components and systems following engineering instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct precision mechanical assembly and rework, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and adherence to tolerances.
  • Install and route fiber optic cables, ensuring proper connections and minimal signal loss.
  • Execute complex solder rework and repair tasks, ensuring strong and reliable solder joints.
  • Install and repair magnet wire (mag‑wire) components, maintaining the integrity of the wire and insulation.
  • Assist in the design, setup, and calibration of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Support engineering teams by performing routine and non‑routine testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of assembly processes, rework, and repairs.
  • Adhere to company safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members to ensure successful project completion.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or a 2‑year post‑secondary/Associate's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • 5 years of experience in electro‑mechanical assembly, precision mechanical assembly, and rework.
  • Proficiency in soldering techniques and experience with complex solder rework.
  • Experience with fiber optic cable installation and routing.
  • Strong knowledge of magnet wire (mag‑wire) installation and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with a commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and practices.
  • Certification in IPC‑A‑610 or J‑STD‑001.
  • Experience with cleanroom environments and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols.
  • Previous experience working in aerospace, defense, or high‑tech industries.
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for intricate assembly tasks.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
