The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and indirect patient care by adhering to the nursing process in a collaborative environment, promoting optimal patient outcomes through evidence‑based practice, care coordination, and patient and family engagement.
Primary Accountabilities- Provides safe and effective nursing care based on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs across the care continuum.
- Administers medications, performs treatments, and documents care activities in accordance with Health First’s policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, participate in rounds, and support discharge planning.
- Applies critical thinking to promptly identify changes in patient condition and initiate the appropriate interventions.
- Educates patients and families using teach‑back to promote engagement in care and safe transitions.
- Adheres to safety protocols and infection prevention practices to protect patients and associates.
- Utilizes Health First technology systems to enter clinical documentation and care plans.
- Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiatives.
- Supports precepting, mentoring, and onboarding of new associates and students as appropriate.
- Promotes a culture of purpose, rounding, and communication at the bedside (e.g., whiteboard use, bedside shift report).
- Education:
Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN) or Nursing Diploma. - Work Experience:
Meets unit‑specific care requirements; new graduates considered based on unit needs. - Licensure:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida or endorsement. - Certification:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained. - Additional certifications to meet unit‑specific care requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS).
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and patient documentation.
- Demonstrated initiative in quality and patient safety improvements.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in complex environments.
- Maintains compliance with competency validations and continuing education.
- Demonstrates flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to a collaborative work environment.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN). - Work Experience:
One (1) year or more of acute care or specialty setting. - Certification:
National certification in specialty area (e.g., CCRN, CMSRN, CEN).
- Physically agile; requires walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching majority of the shift.
- Heavy work that frequently includes lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more with or without assistance.
- May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, reaching above shoulders or overhead.
- Possible lifting, turning, pulling, pushing, or ambulating people and/or equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- Possible exposure to indoor and outdoor environments with extreme temperatures, air contamination, dirt, grease, or water.
- Possible work with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Possible operation of various types of manual and motorized equipment used in transportation of materials.
- Possible exposure to intense noise or vibration and awkward or confined work positions.
- Communication with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- Possible travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of a personal vehicle.
