Journeyman Chiller Technician

Job Summary:

Provide skilled maintenance, repair, and commissioning of central plant equipment, including large chillers, cooling towers, and associated auxiliary systems. Serve as a key member of the mechanical team, supporting on‑site operations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency service calls.

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including 100 ton chillers and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul centrifugal chillers, bolster rigging expertise, and conduct end‑to‑end testing, programming, start‑ups, and commissioning.
• Schedule and manage site‑wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on all associated equipment.
• Ensure completion of maintenance within scheduled periods and time limits.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all on‑site equipment.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co‑workers.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Work directly with the Chiller Field Supervisor on new and existing customer opportunities or issues.

• Five years of journeyman‑level work experience and technical schooling; commercial/industrial air conditioning experience mandatory.
• Knowledge of chiller, HVAC, and central plant systems; HVAC large tonnage field knowledge required.
• EPA certification.
• Must be available for emergency service calls “on call” through normal rotation.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Compensation Range: $40 - $90 per hour. The hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results.
