Kids Zone Attendant / Birthday Party Host

Location: YMCA of the Suncoast, Greater Palm Harbor Branch, Florida

Rate of pay: $14.00/hr - $14.10/hr

Shift: Shifts vary; candidate must focus on safety and building relationships with kids.

This position is responsible for direct supervision of children and implementation of planned activities.

Must be at least 16 years old and work well with children. Understanding of the YMCA and its mission is preferred. Within 90 days of hire: CPR, AED, First Aid certification required, and completion of Intro to the Y's Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, I Hear You:
Service with CARE, Kids Zone University, Preventing Sexual Abuse Between Young Children, Principles of Youth Development, Youth Relationships:
Creating Positive Interactions, Youth Afformations:
Distinguishing Between Praise and Encouragement trainings required. Within 6 months:
Introduction to S.A.F.E, Foundations of Listen First, Engaging with Families trainings required. Get SMART preferred.

Understand your relationship to the children, parents, the Branch, and the YMCA. Character above reproach, maturity, effective communication and organizational skills, and ability to relate to children of all social/economic segments.

May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, maintain physical endurance for all weather conditions, be alert at all times, possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities.

• Take responsibility for leadership and guidance of children.
• Acquaint children with rules, activities, daily schedules, and area.
• Take responsibility for the safety/welfare of each child including attendance.
• Report all accidents to Supervisor; complete proper health log or incident form.
• Plan, organize, and implement activity plans for special interest activities.
• Create a nurturing, safe environment; report suspicious activity; keep supplies organized; maintain and clean facility and care for equipment; maintain good working conditions, inventory, and cleanup after all activities.
