Overview

LA CENTA is a dedicated subspecialty practice committed to availability and to improving the quality of community healthcare. Medical Assistants are the foundation of success in the clinic and work closely with physicians and advanced practice staff to perform patient intake, explain basic procedures, assist with procedures, and help the clinic run smoothly.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Room patients according to office standards.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
  • Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and recording the patient history summary accurately and in a timely manner in the EMR.
  • Coordinate patient care as directed by physicians.
  • Process appropriate documents in an organized and accurate fashion.
  • Organize exam and treatment rooms, stock and clean rooms, and sterilize instruments before and after each patient visit.
  • Enter patient medications in the EMR with each visit.
  • Enter medical history, HMO authorizations, and external medical records into the EMR.
  • Assist physician with in‑office procedures.
  • Answer phones and schedule patient appointments.
  • Obtain medical records from external sources when needed.
  • Review all messages before the end of the day for proper handling.
  • Secure patient information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Inventory supplies and advise the manager when supplies run low.
  • Maintain equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting, and notifying the manager when repair calls are necessary.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Adhere to practice policies and federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Accept ownership for new and different requests and explore opportunities to add value.
  • Respect patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduated from an accredited medical assistant program.
  • Ear, Nose, Throat & Allergy specialty clinic experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • General knowledge of HIPAA and CPT codes.
  • Must be able to travel within the Los Angeles clinic locations.
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to work in an unsupervised environment with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to operate office equipment necessary to perform job functions.
  • Team player with a pleasant attitude toward the practice of medicine.
Physical Demands
  • Sit for long periods at a time.
  • Use hands and fingers in repetitive motions daily.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 10 lbs. periodically.
  • Travel to clinic locations or sites as needed.
