About the Venue

Step into a piece of living history. Since 1936, the Plaza Theatre has been more than just a building—it's been the heart of Palm Springs. Here, where the shimmer of Hollywood's golden age merged with desert magic, legends didn't just perform—they made history. The theatre's iconic identity was established on opening night with the world premiere of the Oscar‑winning film "Camille," when its legendary star Greta Garbo reportedly slipped into the back after the lights dimmed.

These walls have witnessed countless iconic moments, from star‑starred movie premieres to nationally broadcast radio shows featuring luminaries like Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Amos 'n' Andy, and Bing Crosby. Even Palm Springs royalty, Frank and Nancy Sinatra, graced this storied stage, while the Fabulous Palm Springs Follies called this venue home for nearly 25 years.

But even icons need renewal. Today, the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre stands on the brink of its most spectacular performance yet. When the curtain rises again in December 2025, under the expert management of Oak View Group, the Plaza Theatre will be more than a venue—it will be a catalyst for cultural connection, offering world‑class programming while remaining accessible to all.

This project isn't just about preserving a building; it's about energizing a community. Through the visionary partnership of Oak View Group, the Palm Springs Plaza Theatre Foundation, and the City of Palm Springs, this beloved landmark isn't just being restored but reimagined for future generations.
