DescriptionNorthrop Grumman invites candidates to join the Aeronautics Systems team as a Aeronautical Engineering Manager 2 – Subsystems Design, supporting the B-2 program. The Position is located in Palmdale, CA. The Section Manager will lead a team of approximately 12 engineers, responsible for the design of mechanical and electrical subsystems for B-2. The Manager will work 80% of their time in the subsystems design discipline as directed by the Vehicle Engineering program IPT Lead.
The Manager will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and facilitating communications, tasking, scheduling, and technical reviews with each individual contributor’s execution lead. Functional home room support, approximately 20% of the manager’s time will be focused on recruiting, staffing, retaining talent, weekly team meetings, bi-weekly 1:1 meetings, and holding performance review discussions.
- Develop solutions to challenging problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives while keeping the statement of work and design requirements in focus.
- Coordinate and communicate clearly with other disciplines, customer, and suppliers during design development.
- Present system design issues and solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
- Develop and review completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
- Evaluate engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience.
- Demonstrated excellence in the field of subsystems design (electrical or mechanical).
- Experience in a technical leadership or management role.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 and Team Center (Unified and Enterprise).
- Experience generating 2D drawings in accordance with normal drafting practices using ASME Y14.5.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
- Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, including requirement definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, test verification for advanced aircraft.
- Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
- Experience working on Special Access Programs.
