Skunk Works Subsystem Design Engineer

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full‑time Subsystem Design Engineer for the Advanced Development Programs (Skunk Works®) in Palmdale, California. A successful candidate will bring technical expertise to develop solutions to aircraft subsystem design and installation problems.

• Develop, test, and validate new and modified subsystem designs.
• Troubleshoot system malfunctions to determine root cause and corrective action.
• Create and maintain 3‑D CATIA models, assemblies and installations, system requirements, interface/supplier control drawings, performance specifications, system checkout procedures and statements of work.
• Create system requirements, trade studies, sub‑component and flight test plans.
• Coordinate with suppliers, internal and external integrated product teams, management and the customer.
• Support manufacturing, ground/flight test and customer operating locations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
• Experience with 3DX, CATIA, Solid Works, Pro Engineer, Creo, Unigraphics, NX or equivalent 3‑D CAD tool.
• Experience creating and/or modifying drawings.
• Experience with aircraft subsystem design, installation, and troubleshooting.
• Hands‑on experience with aircraft modifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance per business requirements.

• Experience with 3DX or CATIA V5.
• Experience with hand analysis for initial part layout.
• Experience with metallic design.
• Experience with tubing and equipment installation.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Active Top Secret clearance.
• 7–9 years of professional experience with a related master’s degree (or 9 years without).

Position requires Top Secret clearance and is limited to U.S. citizens. Onsite full‑time at the Lockheed Martin facility.

Annual base salary range: $104,500 – $184,115 (California, Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, DC). Incentive plan eligible. Work schedule:
