About the Role: Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an NDI Tech 1 to join our team in Palmdale, CA. The selected candidate must be available to support all shifts, including weekends. Travel may be required. The selected candidate will be trained to perform non-destructive tests (NDT) on aircraft engines or components, inspecting metallic and non-metallic materials, parts, and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including Radiography, Ultrasound, Phased Array Ultrasonics, Penetrant, Eddy Current, Laser Shearography and Thermography.

Additionally, the selected candidate will be involved in the NDT inspection of hardware supporting various aircraft programs and must be willing to attend all necessary classroom training and method certification.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to work in a team environment under the guidance of mentor(s) to learn the necessary techniques and processes for achieving high quality NDT inspection results
  • Active Secret Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
  • Formal classroom certifications in Ultrasonic NDT level 1 and 2 (must provide documentation)
  • Formal classroom certifications in Eddy Current NDT level 1 and 2 (must provide documentation)
  • Must be available to support all shifts, including weekends
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aircraft inspection or structures
  • Knowledge of Nonconforming Material (NCM) control system and governing procedures and documentation
  • Relevant past experience in the NDT field

Primary Level Salary Range: $45,800.00 - $76,400.00

Salary determined based on scope and responsibilities, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus and benefits such as health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays and paid time off.
