Tool Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Tool Design Engineer to design industrial machinery, equipment, and tooling solutions that support production and experimental use. This role involves creating tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments while considering factors such as accessibility, cost efficiency, mobility, and performance requirements. You will work independently to develop solutions, provide technical expertise, and collaborate across design, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure quality, cost, and schedule objectives are met.

• Design a variety of assembly tools for aerospace or similar complex vehicle structures.
• Develop technical solutions for challenging problems and lead process improvement initiatives within tool design and planning workflows.
• Create detailed 2D technical drawings and utilize 3DX / Catia for 3D design.
• Act as a liaison between design, manufacturing engineering, and tooling procurement teams.
• Support production floor activities and provide guidance on tooling usage and assembly instructions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience designing assembly tools for aerospace vehicles or similar applications.
• At least 1 year of experience with Catia V5 or 3DX.
• Experience creating 2D technical design drawings (blueprints).

• Hands‑on experience with tool fabrication.
• Knowledge of various tooling types: structural assembly tools, fixtures, drill jigs, lift and move tools.
• Experience authoring tool usage instructions or assembly work instructions.
• Background in manufacturing engineering and production floor support.
• Familiarity with aircraft assembly and first article builds.
