Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain a visible, friendly presence, greet and assist customers.
  • Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system.
  • Handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, lottery tickets, loyalty offers, coupons, and other tenders per company policy.
  • Enforce company limits on cash shortages/overages and prevent loss.
  • Adhere to restrictions on sale of alcohol, tobacco, DVDs, and other regulated items.
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Execute established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with seasonal and special promotions.
  • Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and report equipment that requires repair.
  • Create a welcoming environment, answer product questions, and ensure customers feel valued.
  • Work cooperatively in a high‑pace, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Resolve conflicts calmly and cooperatively, respecting customer privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults as needed.
  • Perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Customer service experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
Desired Experience
  • Prior role as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced retail environment.
