This position participates in the repair and maintenance of Borough roads and streets.
Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values:

E1 - DOE
High School diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
Relevant experiences and skills may include:
Experience driver with knowledge of MSB road system, following direction Experience using hand tools. Experience operating a variety of vehicles and equipment. Experience working outside in harsh conditions Experience using mobile computers for data collection. Experience in general labor or assisting someone with projects. Experience in general safety. Experience working on a team.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.
- Assists with repairs and installs street signs.
- May operate a steam boiler to thaw frozen culverts and prevent glaciations and flooding; repairs and replaces culverts.
- Conducts road striping operations.
- Operates pumps to alleviate flooding conditions.
- Operates brushing equipment; removes trees and tree limbs from roadways.
- May operate street sweeping equipment.
- Operates snow removal and plowing equipment.
- Assists with repairs of asphalt and gravel surfaces.
- Installs traffic control devices and flags traffic at worksites.
- Transports tools, equipment and supplies to work sites.
- Performs preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Performs related duties.
