Postdoctoral Fellow – The Politics of Education Lab (PEdL)
Posted at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education. The role involves research on education policy, politics of education, and educational governance, primarily in U.S. K-12 school systems.
Ongoing and upcoming projects include school board governance, election timing, voter participation in educational races, public sector collective bargaining, school and district improvement, centralization/decentralization of educational decision‑making, state takeovers of school systems, public opinion on education, and accountability policy.Opportunities exist to develop new data resources for the field. Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate combines substantive knowledge of the politics of education with strong quantitative research skills (econometrics/causal inference, data management, coding in Stata or R) and applied policy‑relevant research. Skills in geospatial analysis and/or data visualization are a plus. The candidate should be able jeu to conceptualize, design, and implement original research, lead the research process, and show commitment to improving school systems or youth/family‑serving public institutions.
Roleand Collaboration
The Fellow will report to Dr. Beth Schueler and engage with the broader Graduate School of Education and Stanford communities. The Fellow will contribute to projects leading to peer‑reviewed publications, co‑author papers, and present at conferences to build a robust research program.
