Join to apply for the Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Camera Cleaning role at Tesla
What to ExpectTesla’s Supplier Industrialization TLA (Top Level Assembly - Electronics) team is seeking a Supplier Industrialization Engineer specializing in camera cleaning systems. This role focuses on end‑to‑end product lifecycle management in the supply chain, from early design quality assessments with internal teams to industrialization and quality control with suppliers. You will develop innovative camera cleaning solutions, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and travel to supplier locations globally to ensure quality, scalability, and performance.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Conduct and implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for camera cleaning products, optimizing design solutions to achieve robust performance.
- Perform design risk assessments using mechanical/fluid dynamic simulations, statistical methods, and DFSS to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- Develop optical‑safe cleaning methods, including fluid (wet) and mechanical (dry) cleaning, or combined approaches, and explore innovative cleaning technologies for automated, integrated exterior camera cleaning systems.
- Analyze material compatibility and fluid dynamics to select appropriate cleaning agents, surfaces, and system components.
- Develop/validate cleaning protocols and troubleshoot process inefficiencies via root‑cause analysis.
- Optimize design solutions in early phases for superior performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with Tesla’s Design, Image Quality, Testing, Reliability, and Supplier teams to define performance specifications and key supplier metrics.
- Manage supplier performance in quality, on‑time delivery, and production capacity, driving continuous improvements in operations, scalability, cost, and quality.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Optical Engineering (or equivalent experience with exceptional ability).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or mechanical engineering, with a focus on camera cleaning systems (fluid, mechanical, combined or advanced technologies such as ultrasonic cleaning).
- Practical experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and fluid dynamic analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent).
- Expertise in fluid dynamics and mechanical design, including fluid delivery mechanisms (e.g., nozzles), pressure systems, and integration with cleaning systems.
- Proficiency in GD&T, 3D CAD software, statistical tolerance analysis, design quality assessment, and improvement techniques.
- Experience in material compatibility assessment (cleaning agents, surfaces, plastics).
- Experience in plastic materials, cleaning agents, injection molding, fluid dynamics, and supplier audits; knowledge of camera cleaning supplier development and management.
- Knowledge of material science and chemistry to ensure cleaning agents preserve optical coatings, hydrophobic, and anti‑reflective properties of lenses and glass.
- Understanding of lens properties, coatings, and image quality metrics to maintain camera clarity and performance post‑cleaning.
- Solid experience with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP/Minitab) and practical application of Six Sigma (DFSS experience desired).
- Aetna PPO and HSA plans – 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deduction.
- Family‑building, fertility, adoption, and surrogacy benefits.
- Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both with $0 paycheck contribution.
- Company‑paid HSA contribution when enrolled in the high deductible Aetna medical plan.
