As an Engineering Technician on Tesla’s Optimus Service team, you’ll collaborate with some of the most brilliant technicians and engineers globally to maximize uptime for our fleet of humanoid robots. Your expertise will help drive innovation, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the reliability and performance of our products. Your attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to think critically will be essential in identifying and resolving complex technical issues.
To succeed in this role, you must be a team player with excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for innovation. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities, and thriving in ambiguity. The successful candidate for this position must have a broad background in mechatronics, industrial, and/or automotive maintenance. Must be a self-starter and able problem solve independently.
You’ll Do
- Conduct diagnostic tests on Optimus robots and associated parts to identify faults and repair quickly and efficiently
- Collaborate with engineers to develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols to validate performance and reliability
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, reliability, and engineering, to identify and resolve technical issues and improve product design
- Provide clear and concise documentation of maintenance protocols and technical issues to support data-driven decision making
- Maintain a high standard of organization and safety in the lab, including inventory management, tooling, and equipment maintenance
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity
- You may travel to support lab expansion and maintenance activities in the Bay Area and/or global Tesla facilities
- 3+ years of technical experience in robotics, automotive service, manufacturing, or equivalent
- Previous hands‑on experience with high voltage systems, wire harnesses, mechanical components, electro‑mechanical devices, soldering irons, wire crimping tools, multi‑meters, and oscilloscopes
- Familiar and comfortable with soldering iron/tweezers, hot air, hand tools and some power tools
- Previous experience with wire harnesses: connectors, contact terminals, ground terminals, cables, clips and taping. Able to read electrical schematics/harness drawings and create a harness from scratch
- Analytical problem solving and root cause analysis skills
- Able and willing to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license required

$24.40 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the offered position.
